Privacy Policy

RubricPal (“we”, “us”) helps teachers grade essays. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to rubricpal.com and the RubricPal app.

Who uses RubricPal

RubricPal is for teachers, instructors, tutors and parents (the “account holder”). It is not intended for direct use by children under 13. Students can view a report only through a link the account holder chooses to share.

What we collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and optional profile details (school, level and subject you teach).
• Content you submit: essay text, files and photos, student names or labels you choose to add, rubrics, and notes.
• Generated reports: scores, comments and feedback created for each essay.
• Payment information: handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers.
• Basic usage and technical data (e.g. log entries and errors) to keep the service running.

How we use it

• To generate essay reports and show them to you.
• To run your account, process payments and provide support.
• To send service emails (sign-in links, receipts) and, if you opt in, occasional product news. You can unsubscribe at any time.

AI processing

Essays are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the report. Under our provider's commercial terms, this content is not used to train AI models. We do not use student work to train models either.

Student information

You decide what student information to include. We recommend initials or student numbers instead of full names. We process student work only on your behalf and only to provide the service. We never sell it or use it for advertising.

Retention and deletion

Reports stay in your account until you delete them. You can delete any report, or your whole account and all its content, from the app at any time. Payment records are kept as required for accounting.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the service: hosting, database (MongoDB Atlas), AI processing (Anthropic), email (Resend) and payments (Stripe).
